Dr. José Zaragoza Huerta is a distinguished Mexican jurist, criminologist, and researcher, recognized for his contributions to the fields of criminal justice, criminology, penitentiary law, and criminal policy. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Law from the Michoacán University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo and a Doctorate in Law from the University of Alcalá de Henares, Spain. He currently serves as a professor and researcher at the Faculty of Law and Criminology of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL).

He is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNII), Level I, and a member of the Consolidated Academic Group of Comparative Law at UANL. His research focuses on criminal justice, the penitentiary system, the execution of sentences, criminology, and restorative justice. He has conducted significant research on the implementation of prison surveillance models, prison mediation, and the modernization of justice and social reintegration systems in Mexico.

Throughout his career, he has held prominent academic and university management positions, including Rector of the University of Security Sciences of the State of Nuevo León, and served as editorial director of the scientific journal Constructos Criminológicos, contributing to the strengthening of criminological research in Mexico and Latin America.

His academic output includes books, chapters, and specialized articles on criminology, criminal policy, penal execution, and human rights, establishing him as a leading figure in the scientific study of security, crime prevention, and social reintegration from a humanistic perspective that respects human dignity.
